Our Music Vision (Intent)
…speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.
Ephesians 5:19
At St Joseph’s we recognise that Music is a powerful, unique form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act. It brings together intellect and feeling and enables personal expression, reflection and emotional development. As an integral part of culture, past and present, it helps pupils understand themselves and relate to others, forging important links between home, school and the wider world. The teaching of music increases self-discipline and creativity, aesthetic sensitivity and fulfilment. At St Joseph’s all children will have the opportunity to sing, to listen to music, to experience different musical instruments, to perform and to enjoy music. Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. As pupils progress, they will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to compose, and listen to a wide range of music from their own cultural heritage and from other cultures.
Our music subject leader is Mrs Ardill.
Mrs Hill is our Music Teacher.
