Useful Information

Reading Books and Boom Read

Every child will receive 1 school library banded book per week. These books are to be returned to school and changed every Thursday. Please record all your reading progress on Boom Read every time you read (even if you don’t finish it). Children are free to read their own books from home but please make sure these are still recorded on Boom Read. Prizes and rewards will be given to those children seen improving their reading and/or reading regularly.

Spellings

Spellings will be sent home on a Monday with digital copies also being uploaded onto Seesaw. Children can practice these however they want in preparation for our tests every Friday.

Homework

All Year 5 children will receive a half-termly piece of homework based on that half-term’s learning. Children need to complete at least 2 pieces of homework per half-term (on top of weekly reading, spelling and Maths practices). These can be returned into school anytime, with children receiving rewards and/or prizes for amount/quality of homework.  Please speak to a member of staff if you have any questions or are having any difficulties in completing the homework.

EdShed Assignments

On both Spelling Shed and Maths Shed, children will have access to a weekly spelling and maths practice based on their Year 5 Objectives. Children can practice these at home and rewards/prizes will once again be handed out to those seen regularly practicing.

PE Day/s

This year, on days that children have PE, children are permitted to come into school in their PE kit on their permitted day. Year 5’s PE day is Wednesday.
